As one of the most luxurious hotels in South America, the Mandarin Oriental in Santiago enjoys a reputation for style, service and outstanding facilities. In 2018, a large-scale remodeling project was undertaken to enhance the guest rooms, redesigning them to reflect local culture with features inspired by Mandarin Oriental’s Asian heritage.

Award-winning architecture firm, Arquitectonica, was the lead designer for the hotel’s remodel. Looking to enhance the hotel’s exclusive, luxury Diplomatic Suite, Arquitectonica reached out to AKDO looking for a product that would take the bathroom of this lavish suite to the next level.

Mandarin Oriental Suite

ADKO’s Excalibur Armor Gilded was the ideal choice for the accent wall in the bathroom as it added a sophisticated, dramatic appearance that stood out against the other designs. The elongated metal hexagons of this distinct mosaic adds textural variation that lends a distressed, pebbled look to the bathroom wall.

Combined with large format natural stone, the warm colors used in the room balance the wow factor of the metal mosaic with an inviting ambiance. The result is a space where guests can relax while being pampered by luxury.
