Sipopo Congress Hall: Cut-To-Size Natural Stone

Located next to the ocean along the coast of Equatorial Guinea, the Sipopo Congress Hall is a 15,000 square foot, double storied structure. Common areas utilized cut-to-size floor tile from AKDO, including three gathering spaces, a restaurant and a main central hall. Designed by the Turkish architecture firm Tabanlioglu Architects in collaboration with well-known international Turkish contractor, SUMMA, the duo was able to successfully complete the grandiose project in just 5 months. Partnering with vendors who were able to control supply of materials used in the project was of utmost importance to the architects considering the short time frame.

The large format natural stone flooring designed by the firm included angular patterns and mixed marbles, which lend drama and ambiance to the spaces. Looking to evoke a sensation of serenity and reflect on the beauty of its natural surroundings, a combination of the AKDO owned Dark Olive quarry stone and another Turkish marble called Savannah Gray were selected to achieve an earth-inspired aesthetic.
